Our Mission

Following Jesus through His word one verse at a time

Sola Scriptura

Our mission is simply developed based on the belief that all believers are completely under the Lordship of Christ.  We once were under the bondage of sin and were hopelessly separated from God.  Even our decision-making was inspired by evil and the power of the enemy (Eph 2:2-3).  However, when Jesus delivered us through His work of salvation we no longer were slaves to sin.  We were purchased or bought by God Himself (1 Cor 6:19-20) and we are not masters of our own destiny, but now we are the slaves of righteousness. (Rom 6:18)  This righteousness is not our good works, but instead it is God and He is our master. (John 15:14-16)

Because of His Lordship we stress the importance of following Jesus.  We believe the only way to truly accomplish this is through His scripture.  The Bible is the revelation of God and this is our source to truly know Him. We have a high view of scripture and ultimately turn to it to determine the priority and the function of the Church.

Therefore we believe our main purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit  (Matt 28:19)

Making disciples in our community:

(Connect Sports): Connect allows us to reach out to athletes and their families in our community and minister to them through a very practical avenue.  Our culture is constantly shaped by sports and our desire is to promote the Gospel as the Lord provides opportunity.

(Inmate Ministry):  We have a group of men and women who visit our local jail each week and teach the Bible.  We are honored to serve the inmates and minister to them.  We believe they are no different than anyone else and they need Jesus just like the rest of us.

(Bus Ministry): We feel it is important that everyone has the opportunity to come to church. For this reason, we operate a bus to transport those who need a ride to and from church.

(Rios):  We have been blessed to team up with local Hispanic believers and share our facilities with them.  Cocke County has a growing population of migrant workers and Rios is a great resource in our community.

Making Disciples to the ends of the earth:

(Tanzania, Africa): We are partnered with (Dr. Joel Carpenter) who is a YWAM missionary living in Tanzania.  We are also teamed up with the Great Commission Church of Mwasonga Village.  GCC is a brand new church in a remote area outside Dar es Salaam that ministers in a community among Muslims and spiritualists.  We are sending teams to Tanzania each year to support the work of the local churches that Dr. Joel has helped to plant.
